LOWER MERION — Stores at the Ardmore West Shopping Center in Ardmore were evacuated Saturday afternoon following an electrical box fire.
According to fire officials, crews from the Merion Fire Company of Ardmore were called to the Hair Cuttery at 19 Woodside Road on the report of the odor of smoke in the building.
Arriving firefighters reported finding an electrical box on fire in an alley. The electrical box exploded with fire and heavy smoke.
The stores were evacuated, and the Bryn Mawr Fire Company was called to assist.
PECO quickly responded and shut off the power to extinguish the fire. The entire strip of stores remained without power. Fire officials remained on location for 90 minutes. There were no reported injuries.
