Tennessee Titans legends Eddie George and Steve McNair have made it through the initial cut of modern-era nominees for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2025.
The list of 167 initial nominees was cut down to 50, including George and McNair, the Hall of Fame announced Wednesday. The next step is a cut down to 25 semifinalists sometime in the next month, per the Hall of Fame. George is a two-time semifinalist (2022, 2024), while McNair has never gotten that far in HOF voting. Former Titans kicker Gary Anderson also made it through the cut to 50 candidates.
The selection committee will eventually narrow the list down to 15 modern-era finalists before the final vote to name the Class of 2025.
Former Titans coach Jeff Fisher and late owner Bud Adams each advanced in their respective categories. Fisher is among 12 coaches still in contention for a coach’s finalist spot, while Adams is among a list of 25 contributors still in contention for a lone contributor’s finalist spot. The selection committee will then vote on the two finalists for induction.
The 2025 class will be announced in full in February 2025, traditionally during the NFL Honors awards show the Thursday before the Super Bowl.
