“Change isn’t necessarily a bad thing,” said Stefanos Tsitsipas looking at the new season. With the end of 2024, players have started to grip their attention to the start of the new year. One among them is the Greek star. Once regarded as one of the best, his form wasn’t the best this season and he managed to have a 45-22 record. However, coming into the new year, some changes in his team were expected. But it turns out Stefanos has kept his team pretty much the same.
Tsitsipas did not have a good season this year. After winning the Monte Carlo Masters and reaching the finals of the Barcelona Open, his form took a slight turn and he wasn’t able to show his best of forms. But he’s not unpinning the faith from his team. During a recent Instagram live session, Stefanos Tsitsipas revealed his complete team for the 2025 season.
Dimitris Hatzinikolaou will continue to be Tsitsipas’ main coach in 2025, extending their collaboration that began in August 2024 after he ended his professional relationship with his father, Apostolos Tsitsipas. Stefanos explained that Hatzinikolaou would accompany him for most weeks of the year. For the weeks when Hatzinikolaou cannot travel, Kerei Abakar from the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy will step in. Abakar, who first met Stefanos in 2015, has occasionally worked with him over the past decade.

Stefanos also confirmed Frederic Lefebvre will remain his trainer. Lefebvre has been part of his team since 2016 and is crucial in maintaining his physical condition. A fresh addition to the team is his cousin, Constantinos Tsitsipas, a chiropractor who recently worked with him in Shanghai and Tokyo. The staff will also include Stefanos’ friends Alessandro Pirounis and Viktor Huet to provide the player with essential personal support.

Stefanos Tsitsipas has opened up about his decision to part ways with his father, Apostolos Tsitsipas, as his coach earlier this year. The Greek star reflected on the challenges and complexities of their professional and personal relationship. He aslo revealed the reasons behind the significant change.
Their coaching partnership, though long-lasting, often became turbulent. Mid-match arguments and heated exchanges between the 26-year-old and his father were widely discussed. The situation reached a breaking point during Tsitsipas’ opening-round loss in Canada, where he clashed with his father in the box. Speaking about the incident afterward, Tsitsipas said, “My father hasn’t been very smart or very good at handling those situations, it’s not the first time he has done that. I’m really disappointed at him.”

Though he apologized for the comments the next day, Tsitsipas made the decision to remove Apostolos as his coach. Reflecting on this choice, he said, “My father has probably been the core of my entire life, not only in tennis but also in my day-to-day life.” He credited Apostolos for his career successes but shared that he had felt the need to move forward. “I need to explore my own limits, have my own story, and embark on a different journey in which to continue learning,” he said.
Well, Stefanos clearly made sure that his partnership with his father ended on good terms. Coming into the new season, he would be looking to do wonders with his team. Will he finally be able to bring back his best form and reach the top? What do you think? Let us know in the comments below!
