Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate went unchanged over the month of August, according to the state Department of Labor and Industry.
For the 11th consecutive month, the state’s rate stayed at 3.4 percent. It also remained lower than the national unemployment rate, which fell one-tenth of a point to 4.2 percent over the last month.
Total nonfarm jobs in Pennsylvania were up 8,000 in August to a 13th straight record high of 6.2 million. Jobs increased in seven of the 11 industry super sectors, with the largest movement coming in education and health services, which went up 4,500 jobs.
Countywide statistics will be released on Tuesday.
