At Howey-in-the-Hills golf course, Viera boys golf team won the Class 3A state championship on Wednesday.
The Hawks earned the team state championship title after finishing with a total of 591. Lakewood Ranch placed second, and Ponte Vedra finished third as a team.
Viera had two golfers finish top five in the individual competition with Ryan Woodward placing fourth after shooting 1-under in both rounds for a score of 142 and Arth Sinha tying for fifth place with an overall score of 144.
At the girls’ meet, Viera’s Hannah Hall finished as state runner-up in the individual competition. A three-way for first place tie between Hall, Lake Nona’s Alexandra Snyder, and Jupiter’s Zoey Shamy led to a playoff. Snyder won the playoff to claim first place and Shamy tied with Hall for second place.
As a team, Viera girls finished eighth overall. Lake Nona girls placed first in the team competition.
