For St. Xavier running back Marlon Harbin, it doesn’t matter whether he plays on Friday or Saturday. Or whether it’s sunny or raining.
The senior is going to carry the load for the fourth-ranked Tigers.
Harbin scored two touchdowns, leading St. Xavier to a 16-10 home victory over top-ranked Trinity in a battle of Class 6A heavyweights on Saturday.
With the win, St. Xavier (3-2) snapped its two-game losing streak against the Shamrocks (4-2) in the 93rd meeting between the schools.
On the first play from scrimmage, Harbin took an outside handoff down the right side of the field, racing past Shamrocks defenders, for an 80-yard touchdown.
Harbin scored on a 6-yard run in the second quarter, and St. Xavier led at halftime, 16-3.
In the fourth quarter, with Trinity trailing 16-10, Harbin intercepted a pass by Shamrocks quarterback Zane Johnson.
Trinity had one more opportunity to score late in the fourth quarter, but the Shamrocks were stopped short on fourth down with less than two minutes remaining.
