TAYLOR, Mich. – The Southland Center mall has been sold to a private investment group, according to the city of Taylor.
The mall was sold to Greenwood Global, a private investment group located near Chicago.
“This is going to be an exciting new chapter for Southland,” said Amy Jurecki, Southland’s senior general manager. “We’re really excited about this.”
The city said the mall has struggled with financial challenges over the past decade, including when the former owner, Brookfield Properties, defaulted on a “significant” loan in 2022.
“We have always had strong numbers,” Jurecki said.
According to the city, Southland reported over $8 million in revenue during the first half of 2024 and had a net cash flow of over $4 million.
The city said more will be released in the “near future.”
