On Thursday, Chloe Kitts recorded the ninth triple-double in South Carolina program history. Let’s remember them all.
Against Ole Miss, Kitts had 16 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists (plus a career-high four steals for good measure). It was the fourth triple-double of the Dawn Staley era, but the first time with points-rebounds-assists. The other were points-rebounds-blocks. Kitts has one of only two triple-doubles against SEC opponents.
Kitts’ might be the most improbable. Entering the game, she didn’t average in double figures in any category, and her career-high for assists was just five. South Carolina’s individual season high for assists entering the game was eight by Raven Johnson, and no player had dished out 10 or more assists since Johnson had 17 against Clemson on November 16, 2023.
The two previous triple-doubles were each by Aliyah Boston, the only player in program history with more than one.
Boston had 16 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 blocks on January 21, 2021, against no. 22 Georgia. The Lady Bulldogs were one of the few teams that played Boston straight up, leading to some big performances.
Boston actually got her triple-double without being in the game. She knew she needed another block but told Staley not to leave her in just to chase it. While Boston was on the bench, the official scorekeeper realized that an earlier block had been missed and made the change.
Boston’s first triple-double came in her college debut, when she put up 12 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 blocks against Alabama State on November 5, 2019. Boston is the only men’s or women’s basketball player with a triple-double in the first game. (She is also, presumably, the only player to get a triple-double from the bench.)
Before Boston, Alaina Coates had a monster triple-double against Winthrop on December 13, 2015. Coates had 29 points, 16 rebounds, and 10 blocks. Staley let her stay continue to play the fourth quarter to get 10 blocks, and Coates was flailing at every shot that went up until she finally got her tenth block.

The remaining five triple-doubles are from the pre-Staley era. I only remember one of them, so they don’t have any stories to go with them.
Iva Sliskovic had 18 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists against High Point on December 20, 2006. Sliskovic later represented Croatia in the Olympics in 2012, but her triple-double might have been more improbable than Kitts’. She only averaged 7.4 points and 4.7 rebounds and only had 40 assists total the rest of the season.
On November 21, 2003, Cristina Ciocan had 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 13 assists. I was not at this game, but attended most of the home games that season. Ciocan was one of the last remaining players from South Carolina’s 2002 Elite Eight team, and she had to do everything for that team.
The remaining are all well before my time.
Shaunzinski Gortman had 21 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists against Georgia Southern on December 18, 1999.
Martha Parker had 25 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists against DePaul on March 1, 1989.
Lastly, Brantley Southers had the first triple-double in program history on February 24, 1986, against UNC Asheville, with 18 points, 17 rebounds, and 11 assists.
No opponent has ever had a triple-double against South Carolina.
On the men’s side, South Carolina has had two triple-doubles. Chuck Eidson had 25 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists against SC State on November 29, 2002. Sam Muldrow had 16 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 blocks against Vanderbilt on January 8, 2011.
