WVU Football is set to hire former Boise State cornerbacks coach Gabe Franklin multiple sources tell EerSports. He will likely fill the role as safeties coach according to those same sources.
Franklin spent four seasons as safeties coach for the Broncos, finishing up his time there in2 021. He also coached nickelbacks. He played for the program from 2001 to 2004, earning All-Conference honors three separate times as a cornerback. He then bounced around the NFL for a couple of years – mostly for the Chargers and Giants – before entering the coaching profession.
Franklin began his coaching career at the high school ranks before spending several years at UTEP. He coached cornerbacks, then defensive backs and was also named the recruiting coordinator for the program.
Since his time ended at Boise State, Franklin moved to Arlington, Texas, where he worked on getting his master’s degree from the University of North Texas and helped coach high school football.
