Soul of an Angel, last year’s Eclipse champion female sprinter, sold for $2.6 million to Chatsworth Stud, Australia, in a one-horse flash sale on Fasig-Tipton Digital.
The price is the highest to date on the digital platform, which launched in March of 2022. The Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint winner was consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent, from her stable at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale, Fla. Bidding on Soul of an Angel began last Wednesday at noon EST, and closed Tuesday at 6 p.m.
“Soul of an Angel took us to the pinnacle of horse racing in the Breeders’ Cup, so it was a bit bittersweet letting her go,” co-owner Mark Cornett said. “We are thrilled with the result and wish the new owners the best of luck with her.”
Soul of an Angel clinched Eclipse champion female sprinter of 2024 with her impressive victory in Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint last fall at Del Mar. Earlier in her 2024 campaign, Soul of an Angel won the Grade 2 Ruffian and the Princess Rooney Stakes (G3) at Gulfstream.
The next scheduled auction on Fasig-Tipton Digital is the March digital sale, to be held March 13-18.
