Sony is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the official launch of PlayStation in China and, to mark the occasion, it seems to have teamed up with Xiaomi to release a special PlayStation-branded fitness tracker. The new gadget is rumoured to be a customised version of the Xiaomi Smart Band 9 Pro.
The special version of the tracker has a unique PlayStation-style design – a strap with the brand logo and iconic console button symbols. The package also includes an additional black strap, a memory card, and a charging cable.
There is no confirmation yet whether the device will receive unique software features from the PlayStation. If this is indeed a modified version of Xiaomi Smart Band 9 Pro, the tracker will have a 1.74-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 336×480 pixels and a maximum brightness of 1200 nits.
The device provides water protection according to the 5ATM standard, which allows immersion to a depth of 50 metres.
The Xiaomi Smart Band 9 Pro fitness tracker has a wide range of health and sports features. It counts steps, measures heart rate and blood oxygen level (SpO2), tracks sleep quality, and has useful functions for women’s health. Thanks to the new AFE chip, the measurements have become even more accurate.
So far, Sony and Xiaomi have not disclosed the official launch date and price of the new fitness tracker. There is a possibility that this gadget will remain exclusive to the Chinese market, as it is dedicated to the local 10th anniversary of PlayStation. However, the standard version of Xiaomi Smart Band 9 Pro is already available for purchase on international platforms such as Amazon.
