TOWN OF WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – A proposed solar farm project in the town of Watertown is no longer on the table.
The renewable energy project was in the works for land that used to be part of Ives Hill Country Club owned by developer PJ Simao.
However, 7News has learned that the deal is dead for 2 reasons.
One is because it would take too many years to get the project online.
The second is the company installing the solar farm was told by National Grid that it would need to pay $25 million to help upgrade a substation to bring the energy to the grid. National Grid wouldn’t confirm that.
