The Washington Commanders defeated the Detroit Lions 45-31 in the NFC divisional round on Saturday night in Detroit. Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels improved to 2-0 in the playoffs with the win, and Washington headed to the NFC championship game for the first time in 33 years.
Adam Schefter posted a fact after the game that should make Commanders’ fans happy: With Washington’s win, every NFC team has been in the NFC championship game at least once since Dallas last made it in 1995.
It was a joyous night for Commanders’ fans everywhere. Media members were in awe of Washington’s performance. So, we headed to X — formerly Twitter — to find some of the best reactions to the Commanders’ win.
Could not be happier for that city and all of the die hard Washington fans

Greatest upset win in Washington playoff history.
Jayden Daniels in his second career playoff game had one of the best games by a Washington QB ever.#Commanders in Year 1 of a rebuild/recalibration are in the NFC Championship Game.
Unforgettable game. Unforgettable season.

– New Ownership
– New GM
– New Head Coach
– Rookie QB
– NFC Championship GameOwners (and fans) around the league are looking at their front offices saying, “why can’t we do that?”
Just incredible work from top to bottom by the Washington Commanders organization.

Jayden will be OROY.
Mike Sainristil was as consistent a rookie defensive player in the league this year.
Every week, made big plays. Has been enormous tonight.

Dallas fans have to be sick that us their main rivals got back to the NFC Championship game before them! #Commanders

That Commanders win was for…
Ryan Kerrigan
London Fletcher
Robert Griffin III
Will Compton
Pierre Garcon
Clinton Portis
Alfred Morris
Jordan Reed
Stephon Davis& the others that balled in D.C. for the last quarter century but were cursed to play under Dan Snyder’s ownership

Thoughts on tonight’s win @ Detroit:
• Just gonna skip the fluff with Jayden Daniels. He’s the best QB in the NFC, and he’s in the Mahomes/Allen/Jackson category. He can’t be stopped.
• The defense gave up some yards (everyone does to Detroit) but FIVE takeaways is absurd…

COMMANDERS WIN!! 👏🏾 I have to shout out our defense first for setting the tone for the team tonight. We had 5 takeaways, including Martin returning an interception for a touchdown and a two interceptions by Sainristil with one in the endzone to keep the Lions from scoring right…

One thing it seems like Commanders owner Josh Harris understands—a pro sports owner’s job is to find good, competent, hard-working people, give them resources and get out of their way.
This sure looks like it’s just the start for that franchise.

The Washington Commanders are a win from the Super Bowl.
No, I don’t believe I typed that sentence, either.

#Commanders are, in some ways, accidental contenders. Team exceeded expectations in what seemed like a transitional year. But an elite QB changes everything. Dan Quinn set the tone. And smart signings (Wagner, Luvu, Chinn, Ertz, Fowler, Armstrong, Biadasz) made a difference.
— Jeremy Fowler (@JFowlerESPN) January 19, 2025
I don’t even know what to say. Kinda speechless right now. Love that my wife and kids were all in with me tonight to watch our team do what they did. Incredible effort by every player, every coach, every staff member, and every executive up to Josh Harris. Thank you so much for…
