MANSFIELD — A new gym is calling the Appleseed Shopping Center home.
Snap Fitness, locally owned and operated by Jim and Alex Lozier, opened its doors at 1446 Lexington Avenue in December, and will host a grand opening Saturday, Jan. 25.
Jim Lozier and his son Alex also own and operate the Snap Fitness locations in Madison Township and Ashland. In addition, there is a Shelby Snap Fitness location owned by Chris and Heather Braun. Members can use their Snap Fitness membership at any location.
“Our Ashland Road and Ashland locations are pretty similar in terms of equipment, and we have some different things here, so people can switch up their routines,” Lozier said. “The equipment we have is some of the best, and I think that really sets us apart from other gyms.”
The Appleseed location is organized into cardio equipment, upper and lower body machines, and a weight room at the back of the gym. The space also has restrooms with showers.
“When you go up to the workout equipment, there’s a QR code that you can scan, and the app will keep track of your workout and give you analytics,” Lozier said. “We’re hopeful that that will be engaging for members and be beneficial for everyone.”
Members also have access to the Snap App including workout tracking abilities, meal planning tips and the ability to create a personalized fitness plan. Snap Fitness also has personal trainers.
The 1446 Lexington Ave. space is about 9,000 square feet in total, which includes a workout room for group fitness classes.
Snap Fitness in the Appleseed Center hosts group fitness classes POUND and dance fitness. Lozier said they are working on getting yoga and HIIT instructors. Classes are $3 for members and $7 for non-members. Snap Fitness has discount punch cards for group fitness classes, too.
“When we don’t have classes here, this space can be used by anyone,” Lozier said.
Lozier said his goal for the new gym is to “create that space where people feel welcome, inspired and motivated” to work out.
“I know this sounds cliche, but I really do feel like we have a family atmosphere here,” he said. “We have a great deal of members who know each other and are friendly and cordial, but they’re also serious about working out.
“The basic principles I stick to are keep it clean and friendly, and people keep coming back. We just want to set our members up for success and provide a place where they feel welcome and safe.”
The new location is offering $1 enrollment fees in place of the usual $35 sign-up fees on memberships through its grand opening celebration day. Individual month-to-month memberships are $49.95 per month, or a two-person membership is $74.95.
Members have 24/7 access to the gym, and staffed hours are viewable online.
The Snap Fitness brand launched in 2003 and now hosts nearly 1,000 gyms across 20 countries.
Andi Ruth-Negrini, Snap Fitness vice president of development in the U.S. and Canada, said each gym focuses on building community and creating a welcoming environment.
“We’re ecstatic to share our mission of helping people to create positive lifestyle habits that will leave them feeling absolutely fantastic, right here in Lexington and Mansfield,” she said.
The new Snap Fitness is located at 1446 Lexington Avenue in the Appleseed Shopping Center between Tan Pro and the Burgess Music Emporium.
The grand opening event is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 25 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lozier said the grand opening will include giveaways and a raffle prize.
