HOLLAND — Small Business Saturday is Saturday, Nov. 30.
It comes after Black Friday and before Cyber Monday — days primarily set aside for big box stores and online retailers.
Small Business Saturday was founded by American Express in 2010 to drive consumer spending at local businesses, according to its website. This year, shopping small is more important that ever, as business owners sound the alarm about dwindling sales and inflated costs.
We’ve compiled a nonexhaustive list of some of our favorite places to shop.
Out of the Box Games, Toys and Puzzles: Out of the Box’s participation in Black Friday and Small Business Saturday has become legendary. There are locations at 14 E. Main Ave. in Zeeland and 48 E. Eighth St. in Holland.

Taco Fiesta: Taco Fiesta — 11972 E. Lakewood Boulevard — is celebrating more than Small Business Saturday. It’s also celebrating its final day in business. The restaurant is planning two giveaways, one for a $30 enchilada or ground beef taco meal deal and another for a dozen tamales. They’ll also have $1.99 potato and egg tacos.
Mommy N Me Resale: Located in Holland Town Center, Mommy N Me Resale will open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. The business plans to offer 15% off the entire store and $5 in rewards for every $40 spent.
EcoBuns: The former tenant of Mommy N Me’s storefront in Holland Town Center, EcoBuns will be open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at 11975 E. Lakewood Boulevard. The first 20 shoppers through the door will earn gift cards to be used in December.
The Poppy Peach: The Poppy Peach — 21 E. Eighth St. Suite #100 — will be open 11 a.m.-8 p.m. and is offering 20% off full-price items (excluding earrings), a bounce-back coupon to use in 2025, and a free giveaway.
