In this new series, Sixers Wire looks at the 17 players, per Sportrac, that comprise the Philadelphia 76ers roster — 14 under standard contracts and the three players on two-way deals — and gives each three goals for the 2024-25 season.
The new season begins on Oct. 23, and training camp begins on Oct. 1. Now is the time to begin previewing the new season of adventure that is Sixers basketball.
Up next in this series is new addition Guerschon Yabusele who is back in the NBA after a couple of seasons with the Boston Celtics from 2017 through 2019. He is back in the league with the Sixers after some seasons overseas and will look to make an impact in Philadelphia.
For Yabusele, his three goals are as follows:
In the two seasons with the Celtics, Yabusele shot only 32.3% from deep. However, while playing 22 games in the EuroLeague in the 2023-24 season, he shot 48.1% from deep. He also shot 39.4% from deep in 24 games in the Spanish ACB league per basketball-reference. If he can bring that shooting ability over to the NBA, that will be a big difference for him.
KJ Martin will likely be the backup initially to starter Caleb Martin on the depth chart meaning Yabusele is likely third at the moment. If Yabusele can have a strong camp and make strides to move forward, then he should be able to push KJ and it will make for some healthy competition in camp as the team prepares for the new season.
Rebounding is an area where the Sixers had some issues in the 2023-24 season. Of course, it helps that they brought back Andre Drummond–one of the best rebounders in NBA history–to help in that regard, but Yabusele will earn plenty of trust from coach Nick Nurse if he can just attack the glass and make an impact in that area. The Sixers could use all the help they can get in that department.
