The Las Vegas Raiders lost out on the Matthew Stafford sweepstakes and are now back to the drawing board. John Spytek and Pete Caroll are continuing their search for the next signal caller for the Raiders who will help lead the franchise for 2025 and beyond.
With the team having the sixth pick in the NFL draft for 2025, they may have a chance to select a quarterback. The quarterback options in this year’s draft don’t have the buzz of last year, which could lead to a quarterback falling to the Raiders at six.
One of those players is Shedeur Sanders from Colorado. Sanders had a breakout season in 2024, helping lead Colorado to bounce back after finishing 4-8 in 2023. He spoke on his meeting with the Raiders at the NFL Scouting Combine.
‘I met with [the Raiders] here, I met with a lot of teams here,’ Sanders added. ‘It’s truly exciting, being able to meet Coach [Carroll] and everybody with the organization and staff. So, if they call me and they say, “Come on and visit” you know I’ll be there.’
Sanders could be a great fit with Chip Kelly because he ran the West Coast offense in college. His accuracy and quick release give him a high floor, but the question is the ceiling with Sanders. If he falls to six, the Raiders will get a motivated Sanders ready to prove his doubters wrong.
