The Las Vegas Raiders performed great last Christmas against the Kansas City Chiefs. The 20-14 victory put the stamp on interim coach Antonio Pierce’s chance at landing the full-time job. Pierce finished the year 3-1 versus the AFC West and hopes to continue that momentum in 2024.
However, the team hasn’t recently fared well against the Chiefs, only beating them twice since Patrick Mahomes became the quarterback in 2018. That’s why there was pushback from a clip posted with Trey Taylor, and a fan had a Kermit the Frog doll with a Mahomes jersey. People on social media use Kermit as a joke with the Chiefs quarterback’s unique voice.
Of course, the clip went viral and caused reactions from NFL fans from every team. It forced Patrick Mahomes to address it himself: “It will get handled when it needs to get handled.”
Pierce was asked about it on Friday during training camp. He answered it very quickly to end all the talk around the subject.
Hopefully, there won’t be any talk about this again during camp. Expect it to come back around when the Raiders take on the Chiefs in Week 8.
