FARMVILLE, Va. – Abigail Sheldon played well in her college golf debut for Longwood, and now she has been named the Big South Women’s Golf Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced today.

The Boca Raton, Florida native posted a top 13 finish in her first collegiate tournament and was Longwood’s top finisher at the Elon Invitational earlier in the week.

Sheldon posted a 75-74—149 (+7) over two rounds, with the third round rained out, to tie for 13th.

Over her 36 holes of golf, she was consistent. She piled up 24 pars and added three more birdies.

The Lancers finished 11th at the event, their first of the season, and they head to the Pirate Collegiate Classic on Monday and Tuesday, September 30 and October 1.
