Simone Inzaghi is expected to name a rotated selection of defenders and midfielders for Sunday evening’s trip to Monza, ahead of a busy seven days with Champions League and Serie A fixtures against Manchester City and rivals Milan coming up.
The likes of Alessandro Bastoni, Nicolo Barella and Hakan Calhanoglu could all be spared ahead of Wednesday’s trip to the Etihad, with several players champing at the bit to replace them.
Italy goalscorer Davide Frattesi is in line for a start in midfield, likely in the role usually occupied by Barella, while Kristjan Asllani could be deployed in the deep-lying playmaker role instead of Calhanoglu.
There is still a threat about Inter’s attack, as captain Lautaro Martinez is expected to partner the Serie A leading goalscorer, Marcus Thuram, up front.
There could be a handful of changes to Alessandro Nesta’s attacking line-up though, as Dany Mota could come in to replace Gianluca Caprari for Monza.
Kick-off is scheduled for 19.45 BST.
Monza (3-4-2-1): Turati; Izzo, Marì, Carboni; Pereira, Pessina, Bondo, Kyriakopoulos; Maldini, Mota; Djuric.
Inter (3-5-2): Sommer; Pavard, De Vrij, C. Augusto; Darmian, Frattesi, Asllani, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Lautaro M., Thuram.
