Emma Raducanu has a vacancy in her setup after Nick Cavaday announced that he would be leaving her team.
Raducanu and Cavaday started working again last year, before announcing that they would be parting ways 12 months later.
After the Australian Open, where Raducanu reached the third round, Cavaday explained that he needed to prioritize his health and wanted to spend time away from the busy tennis calendar.
The Brit is now looking ahead, with Raducanu receiving a wildcard for the Abu Dhabi Open that was upgraded after she was originally set to play qualifying.
Raducanu continues to work with Yutaka Nakamura, who is her fitness coach that she hired at the end of 2024 following a series of injury struggles.
She will also be joined by a familiar face in Abu Dhabi, with former coach Roman Kelecic helping Raducanu out for the WTA 500 tournament.
However, Raducanu is still looking for a more permanent coaching figure and Serena Williams’ former mentor, Rick Macci, has offered to help in certain areas to make a big ranking rise.
“Was asked about helping Emma,” Macci said on X (formerly known as Twitter). “If parents/team asked I would maybe guide/help mould the mental /strategic and biomechanical part from here.
“I am too busy to travel but I could rewire the serve and mindset and help set the table to eat her way back into the top ten. @EmmaRaducanu.”
Macci has also coached both Williams’ sisters, alongside other former world number ones including Andy Roddick, Maria Sharapova and Jennifer Capriati.
While he has offered support to the 2021 US Open champion, Macci has also been critical of Raducanu and her frequent coaching changes.
Despite this, Macci posted a series of social media posts prior to offering his services to Raducanu with the American praising her potential.
“You cannot teach talent. But you can teach what to do with that talent. @EmmaRaducanu,” Macci said in a post on social media.”
He added, “Always remember in life and sports it is NEVER over unless you quit. Emma mentally will figure this out and she can be top ten again I have zero Doubt. @EmmaRaducanu.”
Raducanu lost her first match without Cavaday against Cristina Bucsa in Singapore, but will look to put that behind her in the first round of the Abu Dhabi Open against Marketa Vondrousova.
