Started in 2008-09 as the Senior Women’s T20 League, the upcoming season will mark the 16th edition of the T20 women’s cricket tournament with 37 teams in action.
Mumbai, led by Jemimah Rodrigues, defeated Uttarakhand in last year’s final. The defending champions are placed in Group A alongside Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Goa, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir and Mizoram.
The 37 teams have been divided into five groups. Groups A and B consist of eight teams while Groups C, D and E comprise seven teams each. Each team will play the other teams in its respective group in a single round-robin format. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the knockouts.
The five table toppers, along with the best second team from across groups based on points or Net Run Rate, will qualify directly for the quarter-finals. The remaining four second-placed teams will play in the pre-quarterfinals.
Railways, the most dominant team in the competition’s history, have won 11 titles, first claiming the trophy in the 2009-10 season. Other champions include Delhi (2017-18), Punjab (2018-19) and Mumbai (2023). Maharashtra have finished runners-up five times.
Both the semi-finals and the final of the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy 2024 will be played at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
