Nov. 1, 2024 – AMB Sports and Entertainment Senior Vice President of Community Engagement and Sports Philanthropy Chris Millman has been named the Atlanta Falcons’ nominee for the 2024 Salute to Service Award presented by USAA. The Salute to Service Award acknowledges an individual within the NFL Family who demonstrates an outstanding dedication to honoring, empowering and connecting with the military community.
Millman has always made it the utmost priority to give back the nation’s active-duty military, veterans and military families. For over ten years during his leadership, the Falcons have engaged with Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), who provide support to those grieving the death of a military loved one. Over the years, the Falcons have hosted several TAPS families to VIP trips to Atlanta, Falcons’ away games and international games. Domestically, Millman has led multiple trips to bases throughout the United States, visiting bases in Washington, Arizona and Florida. In addition to visiting bases, the Falcons have taken multiple visits to Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C.
With Millman’s oversight, the Falcons established the Veterans Community Fund, an associate-led committee comprised of employees with a close military connection. The committee’s guiding theme is helping veterans thrive after military service, giving $1 million in grants annually. He has also led impactful engagement with the USO by hosting several team trips to bases worldwide. Over the years, Falcons executives, players and staff have visited military members in Bulgaria, Germany, Guam, Hawaii, Iraq, Kuwait and Romania. Most recently, Millman led efforts by the organization to provide the USO a $1 million grant to support an initiative bringing USO centers to all US Aircraft Carriers.
For the third consecutive year, fans will play a role in determining the NFL’s overall winner of the Salute to Service Award presented by USAA. Fans can vote for nominees at nfl.com/salutefanvote beginning on Nov. 1, and voting will run throughout the month of November. Finalists are determined by the consensus votes of fans, an NFL internal committee and USAA. The Salute to Service panel will select the league’s overall winner from the three finalists.
