Deacon Pomeroy on Shawnee Heights’ regular season finale win over Seaman
Deacon Pomeroy scored a game-high 21 points to give Shawnee Heights a 70-49 win over Seaman in the final game of the regular season on Friday.
TOPEKA – Wrestling state titles were the main highlight of high school sports action across the state. Along with wrestling, basketball finished its final week of the regular season. Sub-state action began in the lower classes, while the postseason will begin for the larger schools this week.

Kaden Ballard, Washburn Rural basketball: The senior set the tone early with 13 points to lead the Junior Blues over Topeka High 72-42.
Mason Becker, Hayden basketball: The sharpshooter drained five 3-pointers as he totaled 21 points in Hayden’s 75-63 win
KaeVon Bonner, Seaman basketball: The guard poured in 26 points to give the Vikings a 76-38 win over Leavenworth.
Kameron Badura, Rossville basketball: Badura scored a game-high 17 points in Rossville’s 52-32 win over Doniphan West in the first round of sub-state play.
Kade Mitchell, Hayden basketball: Mitchell tied a team-high 13 points in the Wildcats’ 58-53 overtime win over Eudora.
Jase Pavlik, Cair Paravel basketball: The senior was the only player to reach double figures in their first-round sub-state victory over Jackson Heights. Pavlik scored a game-high 14 points.
Deacon Pomeroy, Shawnee Heights basketball: The senior was on the mark from beyond the arc and inside the lane in the Thunderbirds’ 70-49 win over Seaman. Pomeroy scored a game-high 21 points.
Easton Broxterman, Washburn Rural wrestling: The senior sealed his third-straight Class 6A State Championship, winning the 144-pound division.
Kristjan Marshall, Washburn Rural wrestling: The senior sealed back-to-back state titles by winning 144-pound Class 6A State title.
Landen Kocher-Munoz, Washburn Rural wrestling: The junior claimed the 138-pound Class 6A State Championship. It was his second individual title in his career.

Anna Becker, Seaman basketball: The senior had another big game, scoring a game-high 18 points in the team’s 54-29 win against Leavenworth.
Brylee Meier, Hayden basketball: The senior was on fire, scoring a game-high 26 points in the team’s 76-23 win over Junction City.
Ahsieyrhuajh Rayton, Topeka High basketball: The sophomore was on the mark, scoring a team-high 21 points in the team’s 54-45 win over Washburn Rural.
Maddie Gragg, Seaman basketball: Gragg was at the right place at the right time, grabbing an offensive rebound and hitting the close shot as the buzzer sounded. Gragg’s shot delivered a 48-47 win over Piper.
Millie Ramsey, Hayden basketball: The senior scored 17 points in the Wildcats’ 53-30 home victory over Eudora.
Anna Becker, Seaman basketball: The senior scored a game-high 13 points in the Vikings’ 52-35 win over Shawnee Heights. The win gave Seaman an undefeated regular season, the first in school history.
Rylee Dick, Rossville basketball: The junior scored 14 points as she led Rossville to a 47-29 win over Mission Valley in the sub-state tournament.
Makayla Cadet, Highland Park wrestling: Cadet won Class 5A’s 190-pound State Championship with a pin. Cadet became the first state champion in school history. The victory came over Basehor-Linwood’s Izzy Renfro, who defeated Cadet in regionals two weeks ago. Cadet was the lone state champion from Shawnee County on the girl’s side.
Molly Spader, Washburn Rural wrestling: The senior was the top finisher from the Capital City in Class 6A. She took second place in 105-pound weight class. She went 3-1 during the state tournament as she helped the Junior Blues claim third place as a team.
