Syracuse N.Y. — The top 25 highest-paid jobs in the Syracuse metro area all had an annual median salary of at least $135,000 in 2023, according to federal data.
Nearly half of the 25 Syracuse-area jobs with the highest pay in 2023 were in the medical field, taking up 12 spots on the list, including the top 11.
Other jobs in the top 25 included administrative and financial management positions.
The data covers the Syracuse metropolitan area, which includes Onondaga, Oswego and Madison counties. The numbers come from the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Six occupations — physicians, general internal medicine physicians, obstetricians and gynecologists, cardiologists, anesthesiologists and orthopedic surgeons — saw median salaries of at least $239,200 in 2023.
That figure is where the federal estimates are capped, meaning people working in those jobs could be earning much more.
Judges had the highest pay among nonmedical jobs in the Syracuse metro area in 2023, making a median annual salary of $179,650.
Architectural and engineering management was the second-highest earning nonmedical job, making $169,120. Chief executives were third at $167,240.
