Sri Guru Gobind Singh (SGGS) College, Sector 26, won the Panjab University Inter-College Cricket Tournament by recording a 16-run win over GGD SD College, Sector 32. Batting first, the Sector 26 team posted 142/9 in allotted 20 overs.
While the top order failed to give a desirous performance, Mani Giri (46 off 34 balls, with four boundaries and one six) and Nilay (30 off 25 balls, with three boundaries) helped the side to achieve a respectable total. Mohit Nain (21) and Gurneet (14) were the two other notable scorers for the side. Manhar Bawa was the pick of the bowlers as he accounted 3/33, while Sangam Sharma (2/33), Hardik Choiudhary (1/17), Arnav Sheemar (1/27) and Shehbaz Singh (1/31) also shared wickets for the bowling side.
In reply, the Sector 32 team could score 126 before getting all out in 18.2 overs. Opener Yuvraj Rai — 52 off 42 balls, with five boundaries and one six — was the main run scorer for the side, while Prashant Ahlawat contributed 29. Pradhyuman claimed two, while Jatin Salaria, Arbab, Manu Sharma and Nilay accounted one wicket each for the bowling side.
DAV College, Sector 10, claimed the third position by recording a 10-wicket win over Panjab University Campus. Batting first, the campus team set 175-run target with the help of Anshul Choudhary knock of 74 off 49 balls and Aman (53 off 38 balls). Paras claimed three wickets for the bowling side. In reply, Nipun Sharda smashed unbeaten 93 off 60 balls and Saksham contributed 63 off 54 balls, to help the Sector 10 team claim third position.
