Ask any Tennessee fan and they’ll confidently tout Neyland Stadium as the nation’s premiere sports stadium.
An SEC basketball broadcast had a similar thought on Saturday night after the Vols’ win over Alabama.
“The loudest sports venue I have EVER been in was Neyland Stadium on Saturday night,” ESPN college basketball analyst Jimmy Dykes posted to X on Monday morning. “Deafening.”

Neyland Stadium didn’t have much to cheer about on the scoreboard in the first half but really came alive when the Vols needed them the most in the second half.
I said in my pregame prediction that Tennessee’s X-Factor against Alabama would be the Neyland Stadium crowd. Turns out that ended up being fairly true. As Tennessee’s defense rattled off two three-and-outs, a four-and-out, and a turnover to close the game on Alabama’s final four possessions, the Tennessee crowd was locked in to provide one of the loudest environments Neyland Stadium has seen.

Fans and media members alike have posted their reactions to the environment in the 48 hours since the game’s ending.
“Previously the 2015 Oklahoma game was the loudest I’d ever been to,” Tennessee fan Josh Claiborne said on X. “No longer. Alabama’s first offensive possession damn near topped it. 4th quarter and celebration was other worldly.”
One Tennessee fan replied to the video above with a picture of the jumbotron showing an astounding 127.6 decibels during what was likely Alabama’s final drive based on the nighttime sky in the background.

Not everyone is crediting Tennessee fans for the noise, though. Check out what Alabama’s radio team had to say during the broadcast about Tennessee allegedly pumping in crowd noise.
