ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Catherine will head into the final round of competition at the 2024 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Women’s Golf Championships on Monday with a 20-shot lead after carding rounds of 299 and 304 through the first two days of the conference tournament.
The Wildcats’ two-day total of 603 leads the pack and represents the second-lowest 36-hold score in recorded conference championship history. Carleton has 623 (311-312) to maintain second place, with Bethel closing the gap at 624 (315-309). Macalester sits in fourth place at 648 (321-327), followed by Gustavus at 668 (330-338), St. Olaf at 677 (340-337), Saint Benedict at 682 (340-342), Augsburg at 723 (356-367), St. Scholastica at 739 (371-368), and Concordia at 760 (388-372).
After two rounds of play, St. Catherine’s Kyra Venne remains in first on the individual leaderboard with a 36-hole total of 151 (72-79). SCU teammate Grace Petzold moved into second with a score of 152 (78-74). Macalester’s Bailey Lengfelder (73-80=153) is tied with a pair of Wildcats – Macey Martin (79-74=153) and Paige Hillman (76-77=153) for third heading into the final round.
TOURNAMENT CONCLUDES ON MONDAY
The three-day, 54-hole MIAC Women’s Golf Championships conclude on Monday at the St. Cloud Country Club. Monday’s final round will be a split tee start with teams 4-6 teeing off on Hole 1 at 10:00 a.m. and teams 7-10 teeing off on Hole 10 at 10:00 a.m. Teams 1-3 will begin teeing off on Hole 1 at 10:45 a.m. The tournament’s winner will earn the conference’s automatic bid to the 2025 NCAA Division III Golf Championships. The top 10 individual finishers will be named to the MIAC All-Championship team and automatically qualify for the 2024-25 All-Conference squad.
