Hosts Satish Chander Dhawan (SCD) Government College beat Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management (SACCM) to win the Panjab University (Division-A) Cricket Tournament that concluded here today.
In the last match, SCD College defeated their opponents by 59 runs. SCD posted a total of 183 runs for the loss of three wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. The main architects of their innings were Tikshan Tangri, Jaish Jain, and Rajveer, who scored 62, 31, and 62 runs, respectively.
Chasing the target, SACCM could muster 124 runs after losing eight wickets as they fell short of overs. Aprampreet contributed 30 runs, while Jalajpreet chipped in with 20 runs, and Avish scored 19.
For SCD College, Tikshan Tangri and Chintan Randhan played a major role in their teams’ wins. In three matches, Tikshan made 103, 45, and 31 runs, while Jaish scalped five wickets for 12 runs in the first match, took one wicket for eight runs in the second, and grabbed one wicket for six runs in the last match.
Principal Suman Lata and Prof Kulwant Singh, head of the physical education department, congratulated the players and cricket incharge Prof Satnam Singh, on this achievement.
