Kentucky Derby winner Mystik Dan fired a bullet Saturday morning. His five-furlong time of 59.8 seconds was the fastest of 55 drills over the first at Fair Grounds. The Kenny McPeek trainee has been working regularly since late October, and has been nominated to the Grade 1 Malibu at Santa Anita on Dec. 26.

Another one of McPeek’s top-level winners, Rattle N Roll, was also on the work tab Saturday. The 2021 Breeders’ Futurity (G1) winner, who was last seen winning the Clark (G2) on Nov. 29, worked four furlongs at Fair Grounds in an easy 52 seconds flat. In an interview after the Clark, McPeek stated that the Pegasus World Cup (G1) was under consideration for his next start.
