It’s hard to break long runs in the NFL. You see it in college a lot, when teams can spread it out and take advantage of the lack of athletes across a defense. In the pros, defenders are too fast and good to let running backs just break long touchdowns routinely.

That’s why Saquon Barkley’s streak of long touchdowns is so incredible.

Nobody can stop the Philadelphia Eagles’ star this season. In the NFC championship game he did it again. The Eagles were trailing the Washington Commanders 3-0 when they got the ball for the first time. Their first play was a handoff to Barkley, which wasn’t surprising.

It wasn’t all that surprising what happened next either.

Barkley took a toss sweep to the left, spun out of two bad tackle attempts by the Commanders, cut it back inside and was gone. One play, one 60-yard touchdown for Barkley.

Barkley went two-for-two on the Eagles’ next drive. Philadelphia forced a turnover, had a short drive to the 4-yard line, then Barkley took another carry into the end zone. He had two carries for 64 yards and two scores. The 4-yard score was nice too, but it’s the 60-yarder that showed off all of Barkley’s tremendous skills.

It’s not supposed to look that easy, but Barkley has been doing it all season. He’s the favorite for NFL Offensive Player of the Year, an MVP finalist and has been a monster during the postseason as well.

Breaking 60-yard runs isn’t easy. Barkley just makes it look that way.
