Some Saginaw-area boys basketball teams have finished their regular seasons and are preparing for the playoffs, which start Monday.

Others are eyeing conference championships. But all hope to end the season on a high note.

Trending Up

Chesaning

The disappointment of a 3-3 start to the season has disappeared, with Chesaning reeling off 15 consecutive wins and sitting in position to claim a Mid-Michigan Activities Conference title. The Indians finish the regular season with a conference game Friday against Birch Run.

Frankenmuth

Frankenmuth extended its winning streak to five games with a fourth-quarter rally to beat Nouvel in a non-conference game Wednesday. The Eagles haven’t lost since a 57-56 defeat at the hands of Tri-Valley Conference rival Freeland.

Ithaca

Ithaca has won its last three games and seven of its last eight, with the only loss coming to Division 2 Alma, 58-55. The strong finish has put Ithaca in position to claim the Tri-Valley Conference championship if it can pull off a win Friday at Nouvel. Ithaca and Nouvel head into the showdown tied for first in the TVC Blue with 7-2 records.

Saginaw United

Saginaw United finished the regular season on a 10-game winning streak, capping the season with a 94-36 win over Bay City Central. The Phoenix have plenty of time to prepare for a Division 1 district semifinal game Wednesday at Flint Carman-Ainsworth against rival Heritage. In the regular-season meeting, United won, 77-65.
