We knew Chris Drury was ruthless, something the Rangers needed in the General Manger spot for a while. But the level of ruthless was still up in the air. With Elliotte Friedman reporting (good fine by friend of the site Lou, below) the Rangers are shopping Kreider and Jacob Trouba, we have now learned how ruthless he can be. Chris Kreider is a lifelong Ranger, but his name is now in the rumor mill.
Kreider is being held out tonight for an upper body injury, and it’s safe to take this at face value. A trade of this magnitude doesn’t happen overnight. But to hear the Rangers are shopping Kreider is still a shocker for many.
Kreider carries a $6.5 million cap hit but only $5 million in annual salary. He also has a 15 team no trade clause.
Trouba carries an $8 million cap hit but only $6 million in annual salary. He too has a 15 team no trade clause.
