Indian cricket ace Rohit Sharma is no stranger to piling up huge scores on the cricket field. The Hitman, in fact, holds the record for the highest score by any player in an ODI match courtesy of his 264 against Sri Lanka in 2014.
T20 cricket has been no different and Rohit Sharma, over the years, has posted some mammoth scores in the shortest format of the game as well.
Rohit Sharma has scored a total of eight centuries in T20 cricket. Five of these have come in T20 internationals, which makes him the player with the most number of T20I centuries, alongside Australia’s Glenn Maxwell.
Rohit Sharma’s highest score in T20 cricket is 121 not out against Afghanistan at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. This is also his highest T20I score.
The match in question was the final match of the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan.
Having already secured the series with convincing wins in the first two matches in Mohali and Indore, India looked to be cruising towards a clean sweep after posting 212/4 on the board batting first.
Captain Rohit Sharma led the attack from the front, scoring an unbeaten 121 off 69 deliveries, striking at a rate of 175.36. The innings featured 11 fours and eight sixes.
Sharma put together an undefeated 190-run partnership with Rinku Singh for the fifth wicket, which is still the highest partnership for India in any T20I match.
The win, though, didn’t come easy as Afghanistan tied India’s score. It took India two Super Overs to finally secure the victory.
