ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – Golf carts are now allowed on certain Med City streets.
Monday, Rochester’s City Council approved the use of permitted golf carts on roads with 25 miles-per-hour speed limits. The city will draft a new ordinance on the usage of carts within city limits.
The city’s current ordinance only allows travel using golf carts between the cart owner’s home and a golf course.
Residents who wish to use a golf cart will need a permit for its use and proof that the cart is insured. All golf carts must be labeled as slow-moving vehicles and follow all traffic laws.
