RISE! participants from the Roseland Community Center traveled to historic Charleston, SC, on July 31 to visit the International African American Museum. They were accompanied by several parents and other chaperones, along with the RISE! Director and summer staff and Roseland Board Members. They spent the afternoon exploring the exhibits in the museum and the sacred grounds, and they also had the opportunity to make a brief stop at the historic Mother Emanuel AME Church, the site of a horrific tragedy in 2016. The trip was made possible through a RISE! Cultural Enhancement grant from the Carolina Foothills Foundation and a generous gift from Sarah Schroth. (Submitted by Dr. Warren J. Carson)
