Riley Gaines delivered the prerace invocation at Sunday’s NASCAR COTA race.
Gaines, a former star swimmer at Station Camp and 12-time All-American at Kentucky, is an advocate against transgender athletes competing in women’s sports. She is also the host of Outkick’s podcast “Gaines for Girls.”
Gaines’ father, Brad Gaines, is a former Vanderbilt football player who was at the center of a devastating injury to Ole Miss’ Chucky Mullins, who was paralyzed from the neck down.
Riley Gaines did not mention anything about keeping transgender athletes out of women’s sports during her pre-race prayer.
The EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix NASCAR COTA race is on FOX with Mike Joy, Clint Bowyer and Kevin Harvick in the broadcast booth.
Sunday’s NASCAR COTA race is 95 laps and will be 228 miles. The stages will be 20 laps, 25 laps, 50 laps for Sunday’s race.
