Rickie Fowler clapped back at a golf fan in the stands after missing a putt on the 16th hole during the third round of the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches.
Fowler, 36, missed his 20-foot birdie putt on the high side on the par-4 16th.
As his ball narrowly missed the cup and ended up behind the hole, a fan shouted out at Fowler for not reading the putt correctly.
The PGA Tour star then responded: “Of course you know… that’s why you are in the stands.”
Fowler is using a LAB Golf DF3 Putter, which recently won our Best Zero Torque Putters test for 2025.
Watch what happened here:
Fowler ended up carding a 68 to move to 13-under par for 54 holes and very much in contention for a seventh career PGA Tour title and a first since the Rocket Mortgage in July 2023.
The American is three shots off the pace heading into Sunday.
Jake Knapp leads the way on 16-under par, one shot clear of Michael Kim.

“Didn’t have my best out there today but did well to fight through it and keep myself in the hunt,” said Fowler.
“Hung a few shots out to the right, was fighting that a bit, I knew I was doing that so played for it, but felt like I had a lot of good chances.”

News broke before Fowler’s round that he had not been granted an exemption to compete in next week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational, a tournament dear to his heart at famed Bay Hill.
Fowler can still play his way into the API, however, should he go on to win the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches.
