Michigan football is coming off of its most dominant win thus far of the season, right on the heels of its most prolific week in recruiting likely ever.
The Wolverines shocked the college football world by flipping 2025 Belleville (Mich.) five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood, the No. 1 recruit in the country, from LSU on Thursday. But what shouldn’t go overlooked is that the maize and blue also flipped his teammate, four-star safety Elijah Dotson, from Pitt.
Michigan hosted a bevy of commits and recruits on Saturday for the 50-6 win over Northwestern, and are still working to get more high-level prospects to campus before they make their intent known on signing day, Dec. 4. With that in mind, we’re looking at 10 recruits who the Wolverines have strong interest in who could become Wolverines in just around a week and a half’s time.
Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman four-star WR Derek Meadows (LSU commit)
One person indicated to WolverinesWire last week that Meadows could have been a part of a package to flip to Michigan along with Underwood and Dotson (this was prior to both flipping). Even as more predictions come in that Meadows will be Ann Arbor-bound, we’re hearing it’s not completely done. Still, Michigan needs another wide receiver in this class and if we were to guess, the Meadows will be in the class.
However, Notre Dame and Alabama are also fighting hard to flip the LSU commit, and are certainly still in play. Considering they’re still in play suggests there’s more work to do.
Chances: 6/10 (We would have had this at 9/10 early last week)
Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy four-star LB Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng
Owusu-Boateng has been Michigan’s top defensive target for some time and there’s no reason to believe that the Wolverines aren’t in the pole position. However, one person told WolverinesWire that Colorado still remains a concern. He won’t be deciding until Dec. 4, but we do believe that Underwood’s flip helps with this one.
Chances: 8/10
Pittsburgh (Pa.) Central Catholic four-star LB Bradley Gompers (Duke commit)
Michigan wants to take both Owusu-Boateng and Gompers (it’s not an either-or situation) but Gompers, who was expected to visit for the Northwestern game, didn’t seem to make it to campus. The former high school teammate of current Michigan linebacker Cole Sullivan is a high priority of Manny Diaz at Duke, and there’s no telling how much that will hamper the Wolverines’ chances. We felt very good about this earlier in the week, but with Gompers supposedly not making it to Ann Arbor, it’s no sure thing.
Chances: 5.5/10
Denton (Tx.) Ryan five-star OT Ty Haywood (Alabama commit)
Before there were any public reports on Haywood (which came midweek last week), the same person who told WolverinesWire that they expected Underwood, Dotson, and Meadows to flip also told us to be on the lookout for Haywood. Michigan may seem like it’s getting involved late, but as On3’s EJ Holland notes, Sherrone Moore made him a priority right as he was becoming a head coach. The interest is mutual, and though there’s still some work to do, Michigan has more than a fighting chance here.
Chances: 6/10
Detroit (Mich.) Cass Tech four-star DB Alex Graham (Colorado commit)
Graham has certainly been expressing his desire to end up with the maize and blue and Michigan would like to have him in this class. However, it hasn’t happened yet as the Wolverines continue to feel out both Graham’s process as well as that of Oregon commit Brandon Finney (who was a possibility to visit this past weekend, but didn’t). There are rumors of Michigan trying to get back in it with LSU commit DJ Pickett as he continues to look around, but we haven’t substantiated anything there. It’s not that Graham becomes an option instead of someone Michigan wants, but there’s just not a lot of clarity at defensive back as to how the Wolverines will proceed.
Chances: 5/10
Houston (Tx.) Mayde Creek four-star EDGE Tobi Haastrup
The EDGE prospect is raw, having just started playing football, but he’s still a highly-ranked prospect despite only having a year of high school ball under his belt. Haastrup visited for the Northwestern game and it’s still too early to know how much of a move Michigan may have made. He’s also visiting Oregon next week and Michigan has other targets at the position that it’s pushing for. Not sure where this goes right now but we’ll have a better idea soon. Our belief in Michigan landing him could rise drastically in the coming days or it could plummet — basically no in-between.
Chances: 3/10
New Orleans (La.) Edna Karr five-star DL Jahkeem Stewart
Michigan didn’t just put the college football world on notice when Underwood flipped, but it added gasoline to the flames when it reoffered Stewart in the immediate aftermath of the Underwood news. We do believe there is mutual interest between Michigan and Stewart, but with LSU, Oregon, and Ohio State having pushed for some time, it may be too little too late. We’re not saying there’s not a chance, but Michigan will certainly be riding the Underwood coattails in hopes that it makes enough of an impact here.
Chances: 3/10
Warner Robins (Ga.) five-star EDGE Isaiah Gibson (Georgia commit)
The day after the Underwood flip, Michigan really swung for the fences by offering a five-star from Georgia that’s committed to Georgia. Though a comment from Rivals’ Adam Gorney indicates that Gibson is giving the offer some due diligence, it just doesn’t seem plausible this gets done barring an extremely strong pitch and a midweek visit. He was originally committed to USC before flipping to Georgia, however, so anything can happen.
Chances: 1.5/10
Cocoa (Fla.) four-star EDGE Javion Hilson
The former Florida State commit visited Ann Arbor for the Northwestern game and though he’s still on the visit we believe, early returns indicate that Michigan is making a strong move for his services. He already has a high school teammate committed in 2026 pledge QB Brady Hart. We still have to gather more intel on this one but this one feels like it’s trending Michigan’s way.
Chances: 6/10
Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic five-star WR Quincy Porter (Ohio State commit)
This would be another game-changing shot over the bow as Porter has been committed to rival Ohio State since June. It’s unclear whether or not Michigan has reinitiated here but two people told WolverinesWire that they had believed at one point in the process that Porter preferred Michigan over OSU. Now, it’s extremely late in the game and though Michigan can make the Underwood pitch, the Buckeyes have Tavien St. Clair, who’s also a five-star quarterback, in the class. It may be a longshot, but due to the preexisting relationship, and rumors that Porter is somewhat looking around (he did visit Penn State earlier this month for the Washington game), if Michigan makes a late push, it may surprise.
Chances: 2/10
