Turf Paradise announced plans to open its fall and winter racing season next Monday, nine days after its originally scheduled opening day.
The beginning of the fall meet was postponed after the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority determined that the racetrack was not ready for use during a meet. The planned new start date was reported Monday by Thoroughbred Daily News.
HISA informed Turf Paradise on Thursday that it recommended a delay of the meet, as well as a cessation of all training on the main track, until changes were made. According to Monday’s TDN report, HISA inspectors are expected to arrive Monday and begin track testing on Tuesday, with training possible to return as soon as Wednesday.
There were two stakes races that were drawn to be run on the original opening day last Saturday. According to the TDN report, the $40,000 Jack Coady Sr. Handicap will be run Nov. 13 and the $40,000 Hank Mills Jr. Handicap will happen Nov. 14.
