The Maryland Jockey Club plans to race 120 days next year.
The Racing Biz reported that the schedule was approved Monday by the Maryland Racing Commission.
MJC’s two tracks, Laurel Park and Pimlico, had a combined 160 race days in 2023.
Laurel Park will host 114 race days, according to the report. The remaining six will be at Pimlico in a shortened Preakness Stakes meet from May 9 to 18. Racing generally will be held from Friday to Sunday.
The first scheduled racing day is Jan. 17, according to the report, and the MJC will not offer racing March 14 to 16, when the Virginia Derby is scheduled to be held at Colonial Downs.
The MJC also will not race in July or August, according to the report. Those dates are the primary meet for Colonial Downs.
The commission also approved two days of live racing at Fair Hill, May 25 and Aug. 3, according to the report. Organizers said they plan to run at least one day at Fair Hill, and the second date provides flixibility.
