GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Gainesville officials have released an update on the Ironwood Golf Course renovation project.
According to officials, Ironwood reconstruction was delayed because of Winter freezing conditions, especially the germination of recently seeded ryegrass.
The golf course’s bar is also getting improvements after the city leased the building to a new company. The bar is undergoing final inspections and pulling needed certifications and licensing.
Water damage to the clubhouse prompted structural and plumbing repairs, according to city leaders. The bathrooms have been reopened, but other affected areas include administrative offices, a banquet room, and the front entrance.
“Thank you for understanding as we do the work needed to keep Ironwood a community gem well into the future,” said Roxana Gonzalez, Gainesville Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs Director.
Gonzalez said the golf course was also able to purchase new golf carts thanks to funding allowances.
