BORREGO SPRINGS, Calif. (February 26, 2025) – Lubbock Christian University completed play at the Battle in the Desert after three days in Borrego Springs, recording a final score of 873 and nine-over-par. The Chaparrals finished in a tie with host Cal State – San Bernardino for sixth place out of 12 competing schools.
Bryce McCracken notched his first top team finish of the season, as his strong consistency over all rounds led to a -3 213 overall score. With this score, McCracken becomes the first Chaparral to finish a tournament under-par this season. Despite ending in a tie for 12th individually, he had the fifth best score of all competitors when accounting for ties. In addition, McCracken tied for the third most birdies, with 16 throughout the tournament.
Maximiliano Dufey followed McCracken after an exciting week of his own. Dufey recorded a final score of 217 and one-over-par, which slotted him a tie for 20th place. Next, Richman Houston ended the tournament with a score of 223 and seven-over-par. Notably, Houston led the Chaparrals in eagles, as he had two across all three rounds. As an individual, he tied for 33rd place.
Hayden Bowman finished as the final team contributor for Lubbock Christian, as he had a combined score of 225 and nine-over-par. In the overall standings, Bowman closed out tied in 40th place. Not counted toward team scoring, Hudson Reagan put up a final scorecard of 233 and 17-over-par, which tied him for 57th individually.
Lubbock Christian has a short break before returning for the next tournament of their Spring slate. The Chaparrals have continued to improve throughout the season, with their team score this tournament being their lowest of the year. They will look to carry that momentum into Edmond, Okla. for the Oak Tree Invitational on March 24-25.
