Carthage, Ill. (KHQA) — Memorial Hospital in Carthage is offering a new series of classes for those diagnosed with diabetes or pre-diabetes.
Diabetes Empowerment: Food and Fitness Series is a unique six-class program designed to empower individuals to take control of their health through a balanced approach to food and fitness.
This series centers on the 30/30/30 approach, which includes 30 minutes of exercise daily, 30 grams of fiber each day, and 30 grams of protein at every meal. Participants will have the opportunity to learn, cook, and move their way toward better health in an engaging and supportive environment.
Program Details:
Participants will prepare and enjoy a healthy lunch with nutrition guidance from Exercise Physiologist and Registered Dietitian, Kara Andrew, while also learning diabetes management strategies from Kayce Fuhrman, Diabetes Educator.
Fitness classes at FOCUS Fitness will be led by Andrew and Fuhrman. Each participant will receive a set of exercise bands to keep. A FOCUS Fitness membership is not required to attend.
For the series of six sessions, the cost is $150 per participant which equals only $25 per class. The registration deadline is February 14. Spots are limited, so participants are encouraged to sign up early to secure their place. To register, visit here or call 217-357-6540.
