BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – The long Labor Day weekend came to a close on Monday with millions of Americans traveling back home.
According to flight Aware on Friday, there were more than 8,000 delays. Sunday topped that number with 23,000 delays, and 700+ cancellations.
“It’s a busy weekend. We saw a 9% increase in travel bookings for this Labor Day compared to last year,” said Daniel Armbruster with AAA.
The hectic flight conditions left many travelers wanting to drive.
The average price for gas the weekend was lower, dropping to about $3.35 for a gallon of regular, compared to $3.82 from last year, per AAA.
“That definitely spurs people to want to travel when it’s a little more affordable,” Armbruster added.
