Dani Ceballos is all set to leave Real Madrid before the summer transfer window closes at midnight on Friday.
The 28-year-old midfielder is unhappy with his lack of minutes and asked the club to sanction an exit despite manager Carlo Ancelotti’s reassurances about his role in the team.
Real Betis have been strongly linked with a move for Ceballos while AS Monaco from Ligue 1 are also very keen. Now, it appears that another suitor has emerged for the Spanish international.
Indeed, according to journalist Santi Aouna, Qatari giants Al-Gharafa are interested in signing Dani Ceballos as a priority before the summer window closes.
Al-Gharafa could see veteran midfielder Yacine Brahimi leave the club for a new challenge, with both Al-Arabi and Al-Sadd in Qatar interested in signing him, along with Al-Ain in Saudi Arabia.
As such, Al-Gharafa have now identified Ceballos as their main priority to replace the Algerian veteran.
As far as Real Madrid are concerned, they will not stand in the way of Ceballos’ exit as long as a fair offer arrives, with reports suggesting a figure of around €20 million.
While that is unlikely to be an issue for Al-Gharafa, they would likely face difficulties in convincing the midfielder to move to Qatar.
Ceballos, at 28, is still in his prime and has hopes of making it back into the Spanish national team. As such, whether he would consider moving to the Qatari league remains a big question mark.
