The NBA offseason is in its most dead period by far. Every major free agency decision was made long ago, and there is still more than a month remaining until media day and training camp commence. With that said, there are still things for Minnesota Timberwolves fans to get excited about.
Every year, NBA 2K releases the newest edition of what is widely considered the most popular NBA video game on the market around the first week of September. With the latest release coming up once again, the ratings for every player in the game have officially been announced.
It seems that the game’s developers watched plenty of Timberwolves basketball this past season and did their research on the important things. Because Anthony Edwards has been given a 95 overall rating in the game, the highest of his NBA career thus far.
This is a big increase from the 88 overall that he received in NBA 2K24. The seven-point jump is the largest of his career to this point. Edwards was rated a 77 after his rookie year, jumping up to an 81 following his second season, an 86 after his third, and an 88 last summer.
Ant is the highest-rated player on Minnesota’s roster for 2K25. Only 12 players in the game recieved an overall rating of 95 or higher, with just four being rated as a 95 specifically. The other three joining Edwards are Stephen Curry, Anthony Davis and Devin Booker.
A 95 overall is a big-time honor for someone like Anthony Edwards. He has of course continued to get better at both ends of the floor in every season as a professional, and his efforts and improvement are being rewarded.
Truth be told, while Edwards’ counting stats took a step up yet again this past season, they were not drastically different from the season before. Team success obviously played a part in 2K25 recognizing his abilities, and Ant continuing to excel in his role as the Timberwolves’ first option propelled him to this top-tier rating.
