Michael Gallup‘s hopeful reclamation will instead be a retirement.
The Las Vegas Raiders announced Tuesday night they had placed the wide receiver on the reserve/retired list.
The transaction was not included on the day’s transaction wire, so it’s likely to become official on Wednesday.
Gallup, following six seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, signed a one-year deal with the Raiders at the end of April. However, the 28-year-old has seemingly decided to call it a career.
He leaves the game having hauled in 266 receptions for 3,744 yards and 21 touchdowns — all for the Cowboys.
Gallop was coming off a disappointing 2023 campaign that featured 418 yards and two TD catches — both career lows. Prior to that, he had posted an 1,100-yard season with a career-high 66 grabs in 2019. He tore his ACL in 2021, but was still able to land a big five-year extension. Unfortunately, he was never the same.
Having been looked upon to add veteran depth to a Raiders WR corps behind Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers, Gallup didn’t even make it to his first training camp practice. The ex-Cowboy is riding off into the sunset.
