January 27th, 2025 ― Doha, Qatar: Last Wednesday, the first batch of Qatari relief aid trucks were deployed to Gaza, out of 90 trucks to be deployed successively via Jordan’s border crossings over the coming few days.

The trucks are loaded with a total of 100,000 food parcels (1,670 tons of food items), which will be distributed to the beneficiaries in Gaza.

Over the past few days, a delegation from Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) traveled to Jordan, comprising Dr. Mohamed Salah Ibrahim, Assistant Secretary-General for Relief and International Development, and Mohamed Ahmed Al-Beshri, Assistant Secretary-General for Communication and Fundraising.

They held coordination meetings with Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) to supervise all implementation and logistic procedures of loading and delivering the 90 trucks. They also visited JHCO’s warehouses from where the food supplies and parcels were deployed.

After that, the delegation traveled to Cairo to inspect the warehouse of Arish and monitor the deployment of aid trucks via Karem Abu Salem border crossing.

Mr. Al-Beshri, stated, “We in Qatar share with our brothers and sisters in Gaza the feelings of happiness for the ceasefire. We at QRCS are particularly happy for the resumption of relief aid trucking, to reach out to the victims of the 471-day war, which destroyed much of the requirements of a decent life in the blockade. That is why Qatar took a prompt action to deliver emergency humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, just as it did over the past few months. This move is the product of combined humanitarian efforts and strong partnerships, in the spirit of supporting the resilience of the people of Gaza. Such diverse emergency aid for Gaza is just one episode of a bigger and interconnected Qatari charitable network of individuals, community, donors, organizations, and government”.

Dr. Ibrahim highlighted Qatar’s nonstop efforts over the past 15 months, with hundreds of humanitarian shipments already deployed. He added, “Since the ceasefire in Gaza came into effect until 26 January 2025, 107 fuel trucks provided by Qatar have entered via Karem Abu Salem border crossing, carrying 5 million liters of fuel, which will be used to operate hospitals, power generators, and other essential utilities needed to alleviate the suffering of the people of Gaza. The target is 12 million liters of fuel. Also, 50 trucks were deployed with diverse Qatari aid, such as food items, hygiene supplies, blankets, and infant formula, which will be distributed by QRCS’s personnel to dozens of displaced families”.

He revealed that a specialized technical team from QRCS is currently station in Cairo, to supervise the assessment of relief supplies to be received, in preparation for successive transportation into Gaza via Rafah border crossing.

Over the 15-month war, Qatar transported to Gaza numerous aid shipments by land, sea, and air, thanks to the concerted efforts of Qatari humanitarian organizations. Last year, 116 relief aircraft were deployed, carrying more than 4,700 tons of diverse aid and 22 ambulance vehicles.

Throughout the crisis, QRCS launched several fundraising campaigns, in response to the humanitarian appeal issued by Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS), in coordination with Palestine’s Ministry of Health (MOH) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
