The Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO), Visit Qatar, World Triathlon, and Qatar Triathlon Federation have announced an exciting five-year partnership to host the T100 Triathlon World Championship Final in Qatar, beginning this December. The 2025 final will take place from December 11-13, cementing Qatar’s position as a global hub for elite sports and triathlon.
The inaugural T100 Triathlon World Tour in 2024 captivated audiences worldwide, with the top 20 male and female triathletes competing head-to-head across iconic locations, including Singapore, San Francisco, London, and Dubai. This year’s series finale promises to elevate the sport further, with Doha and Lusail hosting the swim, bike, and run legs against the backdrop of Qatar’s striking landmarks, such as Lusail Stadium.

Elite Competition Meets Mass Participation
In addition to showcasing the world’s best triathletes, the Qatar T100 Triathlon World Championship Final will feature a multisport festival with events for amateur athletes, including the opportunity to compete on the same 100km course as the professionals (2km swim, 80km bike, 18km run). Additional races for beginners and age-group athletes will create an inclusive experience, ensuring the event attracts participants and spectators alike.
“This five-year partnership with Visit Qatar allows us to position the T100 series as a race to one iconic destination,” said PTO CEO Sam Renouf. “Qatar’s commitment to world-class sports infrastructure and its vibrant sports culture make it an ideal home for the T100 Final. With more than five million visitors last year, Qatar is increasingly popular with both global travelers and sports enthusiasts.”
Driving Triathlon Forward
The T100 series, designated as the “Official World Championship Tour of long-distance triathlon” by World Triathlon, combines elite racing with mass participation, offering a platform to inspire the next generation of athletes. Antonio F. Arimany, President of World Triathlon, praised Qatar’s dedication to innovation and excellence, adding, “This partnership marks a significant milestone for triathlon, blending professional competition with opportunities for the broader community to engage with the sport.”
Qatar’s Sports Vision
The event aligns with Qatar’s National Vision 2030 by promoting health, wellness, and community engagement. Abdulaziz Al-Mawlawi, CEO of Visit Qatar, highlighted the country’s sports legacy: “Hosting the T100 World Championship Final underscores Qatar’s growing reputation as a premier sports destination. This collaboration furthers our commitment to inspire professional and amateur athletes alike.”
A Star-Studded Lineup
The 2025 T100 Triathlon World Tour will feature nine races, starting in Singapore in April and culminating in Doha. Olympic champions and world-title holders from 13 countries, including Taylor Knibb (USA) and Marten Van Riel (BEL), will compete for the coveted title.
Van Riel, the reigning men’s champion, expressed his excitement: “I’ve never raced in Qatar before, but having seen what the first T100 Final achieved in Dubai, I’m confident this year’s event will be a huge success.”
